President and CEO
Mr. Smeenk is a project finance, mineral exploration and business development executive with a proven track record of bringing new discoveries to market. He has been investing in the mining industry since 1996, serving as President and CEO of Tyranex Gold Inc. (“Tyranex”) and as President and CEO of IBI Corporation (“IBI”). During his tenure at Tyranex, Mr. Smeenk successfully financed and completed three exploration programs at the Tyranite Mine. At IBI, his accomplishments included financing the discovery of a world-class vermiculite mine in Uganda, which was subsequently sold to Rio Tinto. Additionally, Mr. Smeenk’s background includes extensive experience in financing and business development as Vice President and President of e-Manufacturing Networks Inc. He also spent five years as President and Director of TheraVitae Inc. (now Hemostemix), a private stem cell therapy company where he successfully completed multiple financings, and took Astrix Networks Inc. (now Memex Inc.) public as its Vice President, Business Development.
Mr. Parnham brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and international contacts to Broadway and has over 30 years of experience in the mining and hydrocarbon industries. He has spent his career developing and founding several resource-focused companies, including but not limited to Temex Resources Corp., Forsys Metals Corp., Giyani Metals Corp. and Canoe Mining Ventures Corp. Mr. Parnham was also the founder and Chairman of UNX Energy Corp., a junior oil and gas company that was sold in 2011 to HRT Participações em Petróleo S.A. for CAD$730 million. Outside of his role in Broadway, Mr. Parnham currently serves as the President, CEO and director of Canoe Mining Ventures Corp. He specializes in finding, exploring and securing undervalued assets at an early stage and applying the wealth of knowledge, experience and skills he has gained in his career to create and maximize shareholder value. To date, this includes over C$1.2 billion in shareholder value for companies in which he has been directly involved.
Eric Myung, CPA, CA
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Myung is a Senior Financial Analyst of Marrelli Support Services Inc., providing CFO, accounting, regulatory compliance, and management advisory services to numerous issuers on the TSX, TSX-Venture and other Canadian and US exchanges. Previously, Mr. Myung has worked at public accounting firms focused on small and medium business for seven years. Mr. Myung is a Canadian Professional Accountant and has a Master of Accounting degree from University of Waterloo.
Jo-Anne Archibald, MBA, ICD.D
Ms. Archibald is the President of DSA Corporate Services Inc., and has over 30 years of corporate secretarial, investor relations and marketing experience. Previously, Ms. Archibald was Senior Vice President, at TMX Equicom. In addition, she has held roles with Sun Life Financial, Nestlé Canada, Second Cup, Campbell’s and Loblaws. She has an MBA from the Ivey School of Business at Western University and a BSc. (Hon.) from the University of Guelph. She is a Fellow (FCIS) of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA) and is a graduate of the ICD-Rotman Directors Education Program from the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD.D). She is also on the Editorial Committee for Canada’s “Corporate Governance Quarterly” magazine. Ms. Archibald has been a member of the Canadian Investor Relations Institute (CIRI) and a CIRI Ontario Director from 2006-2013. She served as CIRI Ontario’s Secretary to the Board from 2006-2009 and as Treasurer from 2010-2013. Ms. Archibald also acts as Corporate Secretary to a number of client companies.
Suzanne Wood, MBA
Suzanne Wood is the founder and CEO of Wood & Associates, a leading small cap management and corporate finance services firm with over 25 years of experience in the financial and corporate sectors. The firm provides management and corporate finance services, including the preparation of financial statements and financial reports in compliance with various regulatory requirements. Ms. Wood also provides general consulting services to companies seeking to restructure, further develop their business model or to engage in the acquisition of new business opportunities or merger candidates. A former Certified General Accountant (CGA), she has served as a director and officer of numerous private and public companies in a variety of business sectors both in Canada and the United States.
Dr. Roger Laine, PhD.
Dr. Laine is a geological engineer with over 40 years of experience in advanced mineral exploration projects, specializing in geo-statistics and reserve estimating, copper, copper-gold porphyry, gold and uranium deposits, underground and open-pit mines, grade and quality control using advanced computerized information systems. During his extensive career, he has held senior executive positions with several mining exploration companies working in the Americas, West and Central Africa and Europe. Previous roles include Chief Geologist at Forsys Metals Corp. (2007-2011) and Zappa Resources (2004-2006), President of ORO Argentina Ltda. (1996-2000), Vice President of Exploration at Landmark Minerals Inc. (2006-2007) and as its Technical Advisor following that company’s merger with Ucore Uranium (now Ucore Rare Metals Inc.). He also served a 7-year tenure as Vice President of Exploration for Amok Ltd. (a subsidiary of COGEMA, now part of AREVA). Dr. Laine has been a Director of several public companies, notably Giyani Gold Corp. and the aforementioned Forsys Metals.
Victoria Donato, CPA, CA
Mrs. Donato has extensive experience in finance, audit, compliance and risk management, including establishing structure, developing controls and improving efficiencies for corporate reporting. Prior to joining Broadway Gold Mining, she was the Chief Financial Officer for Red Sky Capital Management Ltd., a hedge fund of CI Investments, one of Canada’s largest investment fund companies. At Red Sky Capital, she oversaw controls, compliance, financial reporting and off-shore tax structures for five companies. She joined CI in 2007 as a Senior Internal Auditor and established the Internal Audit department. She was responsible for implementing process and control improvements throughout the organization. She participated in multiple projects, including fiscal year-end and fund fact audits, fraud investigations and multiple system conversions. She was also responsible for assessing anti-money laundering programs for all CI business units. Her experience includes writing various reports to multiple audiences, notably CI Financial’s Board of Directors. She later headed CI’s risk management department, where she organized and implemented a successful new risk management framework within one year of becoming CI’s Senior Risk Manager. Prior to CI, Mrs. Donato completed her Chartered Accountant (CPA, CA) designation at Stern Cohen LLP, servicing private companies in a wide range of industries, predominantly in an assurance capacity.
Shawn Parnham, CPA, CMA
Mr. Parnham is a highly experienced corporate finance executive with experience in both public and private company settings including external and internal reporting, acquisitions, divestiture, debt financing and treasury. He is currently Vice President Finance & Treasurer for Ontario-based IMT Corporation, a major manufacturer and supplier of suspension systems and machined components to the heavy-duty truck trailer, automotive OEM and defense industries. Prior to IMT, he was CFO of a diversified environmental services company, Green for Life Environmental (GFL) and held accounting positions at Turtle Island Recycling Corporation, Waste Services Inc. and Laidlaw Inc.
Robert S. (Bob) Middleton, PEng.
Geologist and Qualified Person
Mr. Middleton is a highly accomplished geologist, geophysicist and professional engineer (PEng.) registered in Ontario. He has more than five decades of field work, mine discoveries and company building experience, encompassing the formation of seven junior mining companies including Canplats Resources which was purchased by Goldcorp Inc. He is credited with putting the Penhorwood Talc mine into production for Steetley Minerals Canada Ltd. and played a role in putting seven other mines into production. Mr. Middleton’s discoveries include the Bell Creek mine and the Golden Giant (Hemlo) mine which he co-discovered with Bruce Durham. He has completed acquisition-focused economic reviews of most gold mines in North and Central America, and has undertaken more than 25 feasibility studies during his career.
A pioneer in geology-geophysics, petrochemistry, petrology, remote sensing, airborne resistivity and gravity program sciences, Mr. Middleton technical firsts include: being the first geophysicist for the Ontario Department of Mines; introducing the gravity mapping program for Ontario; completing the first airborne resistivity survey and map of the sand and gravel deposits in Whitechurch; completing the first airborne geophysical surveys and airborne geochemistry surveys in the Sturgeon Lake area; and, subsequently, becoming the first to complete such surveys around the globe. Mr. Middleton is the recipient of the 2008 Prospector of the Year Award, Ontario Prospectors Association (OPA), the 2001 and 2004 Discovery of the Year Award, the Northwestern Ontario Prospectors Association (NWOPA), and the 2014 Lifetime Achievement Award, NWOPA. He is a Member of the Ontario Association of Professional Engineers and the Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy.
Philip S. Mulholland, CPG
Site Project Geologist
Serving as Broadway’s project manager and chief geologist, Mr. Mulholland brings over 30 years of geological experience from mining projects in the western United States and Canada, as well as the Americas and Africa. He has worked extensively in Montana’s Butte region, having developed expertise in skarn and porphyry deposits while working on a range of precious metals projects. His diverse background includes exploration, development and production, including both underground and open pit projects, with an array of minerals and mines. Previously, Mr. Mulholland has held senior positions in the region, including Principal Mine Geologist or Chief Geologist, at Kinross’ Kettle River Buckhorn gold project, the Butte Highlands joint venture, both of which are high-grade gold skarn deposits, and Barrick’s Golden Sunlight mine near Broadway’s Madison project. Since 2003, his primary focus has been on transitioning late-stage exploration projects through development and into production.
